As a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, all our profits are returned to our mission. We aim to promote sustainable energy solutions that benefit both the environment and the economy.

Community Engagement Manager
Lucinda Barrett
Born and bred in rural NSW has given me a love of farming and the rural life. I have a deep curiosity of farm methods and technologies to create a sustainable future. I am excited to help bring more renewables to the region and share my passion for the community.

Sales Manager
Geoff Hunter
The Northwest has been my home forever. Along with my family, I practice regenerative agricultural practices on our beef cattle enterprise. I bring a wealth of experience to the design of renewable energy solutions for farms, businesses and homes.

Managing Director
Sally Hunter
I am passionate about the future of rural communities, having always lived west of the divide. I have spent the majority of my career in rural community engagement and development. I am determined to be part of a zero carbon emissions future, ensuring rural communities are front and centre of the transition. I want to ensure my three sons can live and work in a thriving and sustainable community.

Our Board oversees the strategic direction of Geni.Energy providing leadership, accountability and transparency to our operations.

Director
Dr Michael Bange
Formerly a Chief Research Scientist with CSIRO. Michael has led initiatives to deliver innovative research impacting Australian Agriculture for over 25yrs. He has experience in cropping systems agronomy and research into crop physiology, crop stress tolerance, climate change impacts and adaptation, cotton systems, and water use efficiency.

He has a PhD in plant production and agronomy and has held a highly distinguished scientific career and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Michael (Mick) is excited about the future of renewables in improving resilience of rural communities. He looks forward to further investigating the link between agricultural systems and the hydrogen economy.

Director
Sally Hunter
Sally Hunter is born and bred in rural Australia and is passionate about the future of rural communities and agricultural industries. She has spent the majority of her career specialising in rural community engagement and development.
Sally wants to be part of a zero carbon emissions future and ensuring rural communities are at the forefront of the transition, maximising the benefits and utilising their assets, so that her three sons can live and work in a thriving and prosperous rural community of the future

Director
Jonathan Prendergast
Jonathan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector to Geni.Energy.
He has been in industry since 2010 utilising his engineering trade. He is a director of Komo Energy providing development services to community mid-scale renewables. He is also technical director of the Business Renewables Centre of Australia helping with procurement for large scale projects and helping corporate entities navigate PPAs. He has built a depth of understanding of managing large energy demands through his work with UTS.

He loves the blend of practical, outcome oriented action, with strategic vision of Geni.Energy, all the while achieving low emissions goals for rural communities

Director
Melissa Tym
As Director of Harbour ISP for more than 15 years and Harbour IT prior to that Melissa brings to Geni.Energy a wealth of understanding of how to build community trust. Motivated by the realisation of the poor quality of internet service in rural Australia Melissa took on the challenge of starting and running an ISP.

Originally from Sydney, Melissa moved to the regional centre of Mudgee for a year, and 15 years later, is deeply connected to the community and passionate about standing up for rural communities.

Director
Virpi Barrett
As a Director of Green Energy Commerce with Sunshine Hydro and formerly Wholesale Trading and Risk Manager with Enova Energy, Virpi brings in a deep understanding of energy markets and community energy. Originally from Finland, she has worked in start-ups and with international energy giant E.ON in Germany, before moving to regional Australia over a decade ago to raise a family of eco-warriors.
Virpi is passionate about ways to reduce global warming and she loves distributed energy solutions that don't leave anyone behind. She embraces the impact and leadership that Geni.Energy demonstrates while driving the energy transition in the Narrabri region.

Director
Therese Cochrane
Therese is a lawyer with experience in banking and finance, corporate and commercial work. She has worked in private practice and in-house in Australia and Europe. She has been part of numerous not-for-profit boards and is experienced in governance issues. She is a graduate member of the AICD.
Therese has been concerned about climate change for many years and is convinced that our future must be built on renewable energy.
