About the event
Electrify - Renew - Revitalise Community
The three pillars of the future energy system
Narrabri and Northwest NSW is a microcosm of the energy debate in Australia. That is why it’s important that we seek out a new path for our region, that helps keep our mining families locally and creates new opportunities for the region from renewables.
This event seeks to unpack ways to create benefits from full electrification combined with the use of renewable energy for homes, farms and businesses in rural and regional Australia. It will flesh out where the future opportunities lie to create savings and establish new income streams. It will also go beyond the individual; assessing the needs and trends in the national electricity grid and market as well as exploring the role for community energy. This event will inform you of individual actions you can take to reduce your carbon footprint, and it will also help you identify ways that this new energy system can help to rebuild our fractured communities, improve our resilience and work together to create more benefits as a whole.
Featuring some of Australia’s most experienced and knowledgeable people, this action-packed evening cannot be missed. It includes:
- Simon Holmes à Court - founder of Australia’s first community owned wind farm and a leading expert in renewable energy
- Tim Forcey - expert in electrifying your home and business
- Karra Kinchella - Gomeroi Traditional Owner from Narrabri NSW
- Sally Hunter - Director of Geni.Energy from Narrabri NSW
- Trent Hawkins - Consultant researching decarbonising NSW (read the report here)
- Karin Stark - expert in farm based renewables from Narromine NSW
- Matt Charles-Jones - community renewables expert from Yakandandah Vic
