The Glorious Sally

The cattle are coming soon. Sally Hunter leans back on her white horse as it drinks from the water in front of its hooves. Golden afternoon light stretches in rich rays down to the bottom of the stream. Catches on the brim of Hunter's cowboy hat. Behind her, a few sleepy cockatoos perch in one of the trees on the bank. Her husband Geoff, the rider and his horse wait in its shadow, as if surrounded by the two meter high banks on both sides of the river.

Suddenly the horses become restless. Hunter's eldest son Hugh and one of his two brothers rounded up the cattle and opened the gate at the top of the farm, a few meters from one of the slopes. His parents tighten the reins. Quickly avoid the first animals. Together they steer into the stream and then a few hundred meters further up the other slope to a wide meadow.

There the cattle spread out in the green. Sally Hunter pauses and watches the cattle. Look at their sons, who are laughing and racing with their father. Look at the ridge of hills on the horizon and hope nothing will explode.........
