Here’s the situation… we’re still in the midst of overcoming the impacts that this pandemic has brought. In fact, a lot of countries aren’t even out of the woods yet.
But here we are, and I can’t help but think – really, what better time is there to start setting ourselves up for a greener economic recovery in renewables?
Although the article I came across this morning is 9 months old, I feel it’s still very relevant to our current climate. It was pointing out the astounding reports of the positive climate impacts the lockdowns worldwide have had. New York City reduced their pollution by nearly 50% during their lockdowns and in only the very beginning of 2020 China’s lockdown saw emissions falling by 25%!
We’re on a roll, why not keep it going now?
With the need for economic recovery, renewables are providing a fantastic opportunity. New jobs and job security for the future, with the bones of a cleaner energy future.

This absolute powerhouse of an MP is presenting us with the way for rural and regional communities to take a great economic step forward.
Can you imagine a sunbelt of 10,000 locally-owned renewable power stations? With the help of the schemes that the Local Power Plan sets out, it will bring support to communities in the development of their very own energy projects, with the capacity to develop small thru to large-scale renewable energy projects. In an assessment by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) it was reported that more than 60% of Australia’s coal fleet is set to retire in the next 20 years. The renewable energy industry is already providing 10 million jobs internationally and increasing daily. These factors all point to one thing - now is the time to embrace the benefits of renewables.
How do we take those steps? Well, this Local Power Plan provides a range of practical strategies. And all you need to do is sign and share our petition to show your support of the LPP. You too can do something right now!
Show your support for the #LocalPowerPlan and sign the petition and share it with your friends at www.geni.energy/lpp. We need as many people as possible to sign so that when we meet with our Parkes electorate MP, Mark Coulton, we can demonstrate the massive support for local renewables.
